The course begins at the mountain station and heads toward the south-east, uphill along a wide gravel path. This path soon becomes a hiking trail, upon which one climes varying gradients to reach an altitude of 2038 m. A long downhill section goes past the Gartalm mountain pasture (1848 m) and then along gravel paths to an altitude of 1688 m, where a short and fairly moderate uphill gradient leads up to the Geolsalm (1733 m). Then the course goes slightly downhill toward the north-east and takes a wide curve back to the starting point.
