The course starts parallel to the Barfussweg (barefoot trail) and follows a slight uphill gradient over the crest, which can be seen from the Spieljoch Funicular mountain station. After the first few metres along a wide path, the course goes along a trail, which at first has a moderate downhill gradient that increases further down, until one reaches the Geolsalm mountain pasture (1733 m). The course goes on along wonderful hiking trails, which are level to begin with and then gradually become steeper, toward the north and back to the starting point.
